My vet perscribed this and it is at human pharmacies (made for humans not dogs.) Anyways my vet wants me to give it to my dog for ringworm. I'm worried to give her anything, she looks totally fine and healthy. She is a lab, only 11 months old weighs like 80 lbs. Please only answer if you know! I'm thinking of getting a second opinion.

  1. If your vet prescribed it, then even though it is a human medication, it is safe to use on your dog. Not all human medications are harmful to dogs. Most epilepsy medications used on dog are human medications, same with anti-anxiety, some antibiotics and so on. Your vet should know which ones are safe. Medications made only for dogs would be in the cases where the human medication can harm it. by giving you a prescription you can have filled at a regular pharmacy, your vet can be saving you money too.

  2. Fulvicin is used to treat ringworm and fungal infections.  It's safe for your dog and you should continue using it. I have heard that using if regularly long term can cause liver damage but that isn't the situation with your dog. I just filled a prescription for my cat at the pharmacy.
