For those that don't know The Ritz hotel in london is one of the most prestigious hotels around. I am guessing that you have to dress very formal and appropriate. Today i did some clothes shopping and am now having second thoughts about whether what i bought is approproate to wear.

This is the skirt that i bought

I also bought some cream coloured wedges (they are about 5/4 inches, i'm 5ft 3 so i shouldn't think that i would look like a giant!)

A plain white vest top (not the spaguetti strap type, more thicker)

And all teamed with gold accesories

I really hope what i have chosen to wear is appropriate as i would not want to be frowned upon

Thanks for your help in advance

Oh and i am 17 by the way as i know age and clothes but co-emply with eachother...See thinking about the ritz is making me sound posh already!

  1. yeah it looks nice

you might try wearing tights with it

  2. The Ritz has a formal dress code in all of its dining areas, but to be honest, you're there to spend money so no one is going to kick you out for not dressing a certain way.

Be aware that men are required to wear a jacket and tie. (If you don't, they make you borrow some.)

Personally, I wouldn't choose that skirt - it's more suited to a casual lunch than afternoon tea in one of London's top hotels. I agree with others that darker colours can look more elegant, but as it's summer I think lighter colours are absolutely fine.

A more fitted skirt, like a pencil skirt, might be better - or a dress. I also think shoes that aren't sandals (e.g. court shoes) are more appropriate. Also, shoulders should be covered, so bring a cardi or a pashmina.

Keep your make-up and nail varnish simple (no bright colours), and keep accessories tasteful and minimal. (Too much jewellery is vulgar, even if it is all diamonds!)

It really depends how much you care about what others think. I doubt anyone will judge you unless you turn up in a Juicy tracksuit and flip flops!

    Enjoy your tea - it's a wonderful experience :)

  3. The skirt is too girly.  Try buying a simple black dress, maybe backless and use silver accessories, necklace, earrings or even maybe some cubic zirconia.  Black is always elegant.  If you can find some pump shoes to uplift it, that would be great.  Pull your hair up and you will be ready to go.

  4. nice dress but youd stick out like a sore thumb in that at the ritz go for darker colours , like clarot or black grey and deep blue ,

by the way 10 quid ?? ur goin to the ritz u cheapskate

  5. NO NO NO  Something plain, sophisticated and elegant. The clothes and shoes you are describing do not sound suitable.

  6. It is fine.  My boss took a few of us and our daughters to afternoon tea on a May Saturday afternoon, and you would have looked fine.  My boss was wearing slacks (although they were very stylish) and a blouse.

  7. i think its cute and yes it is appropriate

  8. id say a little casual judging from pictures of people there.

  9. i think what you bought is nice :)

  10. Yes indeed, but I'd say wear heels with it, it might look a bit too comfy with flats.

  11. non of it matters at all,  are you braging or complaining

  12. Lucky you, going to The Ritz. That should be fine to wear, just make sure your hair, makeup and nails look nice too.
