Is this okay? (Pet rat cage)?

I have a cage that looks exactly like the second All Living Things cage, and the lady says that she wouldn't recommend it for adult ratties. http://www.sophielynette.com/alllivingthings.html ( The Second Cage)

Has anyone ever had this cage, did it work well, give me a review please, I cannot seem to find it online or anything! >__< If the reviews are not good I will immidiately be buying a new cage suitable for them.

(( I got the cage from some chick at my school who did not want to care for her rat any longer so I took it in, back in March and since then I have done my research, ^_^))

  1. I like it but your rats might kick their bedding out of the cage because the base is so low. I recomend this cage http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

  2. That cage is tiny. It's barely big enough for one rat and you'll want to have at least two rats. Rats are very social and need another rat for company.

This site will give you some idea if cages are big enough or not:

  3. Hi there! I'm "the lady" and that's my website and cage you're linking to. It really is a small cage, especially if you have the proper two (or more) rats. There's not much room for toys or hiding places unless you overcrowd it, which isn't very fun for the rats. Also, the bars are only coated with plastic that tends to wear off over time, leaving the metal unexposed and prone to rusting, and also making it very hard to clean. It's the perfect size for young ratlets, but once they're fully grown I really don't think it's fair to keep them in such a small cage, unless you give them free range during the day and only have them in there at night.

  4. The second cage on the page is very good because the orientation of the bars is vertical. Horizontal bars as in the first picture are dangerous. Your rat can get his or her foot caught and break a leg that way. They may kick bedding but not much will get thrown about. Sounds like you have done some good research. I would not put more than 2 rats in that cage, but eventually if you want more rats you could graduate to a Ferret Nation cage which is widely considered the best rat cage available. This image is not of my cage but it is the most popular model for rats.
