My husband has been diagnosed with BPD. He tells me that he has many personalities in his head . One time I repeated something annoying to him and he responded "we are all annoyed when you repeat yourself"

Is that part of BPD?

  1. i would suggest that he get a second opinion, as it sounds more serious than just BPD.

    IT SOUNDS LIKE HE IS DID. JUST GOOGLE THE  DID AND SEE IF HE MEETS THE CRITERA

  2. That sounds more like multiple personality disorder to me. I was diagnosed with BPD myself in my early 20's. BPD is characterized by extreme emotions, black and white thinking, feelings of emptiness, impulsive behavior, etc. Also, feelings of abandonment and frantic attempts to keep that person from abandoning you or pushing them away, etc.

    Feelings of emptiness as well.

  3. Hi there

    i have Bpd and PTSD and i had the same as your husband explains i had many personalities and my social worker and psychatrist said its normal for Borderlines to expreince this and it eased for me once i started using diary input and sketch books in my therapy for this and Has ever thought of cognitive behaviour therapy? i have been doing this for over 8 months. and it is very good.helps great deal..

    Hope this Helps;

  4. Hello,

    While this doesn't sound like a BPD behavior, that doesn't mean his diagnosis is incorrect.  For information and help coping with BPD in your husband consider checking www.bpdfamily.org

    It's very helpful

  5. I have BPD, I haven't spoken to someone else referring to myself in the third person. I have referred to myself in self-talk as "we" or "us," like, "we have to go to the store," or "we have to take the garbage out," but I have never referred to myself as "we" in conversations with others.

       That doesn't necessarily apply to your hubby, though. To each his own...

  6. No, he is describing multiple/dissociative personality disorder. People with BPD are often manipulative to get their own way.
