  1. Here is what I have to wonder. You had a intravaginal ultrasound now don't quote me on this because I am not exactly sure what this kind of ultra sound in.

BUT what I do know is that my doctor wanted to do one on me because of cervical dysplasia. I now have to go in for a colposcopy. (more invasive)

You should ask your doctor EXACTLY what they mean by small follicular cysts. Because I have "Cysts" that are from PCOS and "cysts that are from cervical dysplasis. WHICH is a normal thing and is not big cause for concern UNless like in my case it has progressed...

Cervical Dysplasia is PRE-cancerous cells and are common is girls/women ages 17- 40. Its normal. The "cells" are frozen off and you back on you feet in a day or two.

PCOS is treatable but 99 percent permanent.

Honestly check with you doctor. Make them break down the small follicular cysts statement down..

    Good Luck

  2. You could just have more than one cyst right now.  What my doctor told me when she diagnosed me with PCOS was that when the ovaries have a "swiss cheese" effect along with the symptoms as mentioned in the other answers then it is PCOS.  So if you don't have any symptoms of PCOS then more than likely you don't have it.  Ask you doctor to be more sure though!

  3. Not necessarily, it could just mean you have multiple cysts present. However it could be pcos too, do you have any other symptoms? like acne, weight problem, excess body hair, irregular periods etc, they usually accompany if you have cysts on your ovaries if it is pcos.

However at times I have had like 48 (at least) cysts on my ovaries and thensome months none at all and I definitely have PCOS - diagnosed 13½yrs ago), further tests should be carried out to confirm PCOS if it is, cysts are not enough to diagnose pcos.

and don't fret even if it is PCOS, as I said above I was diagnosed 13½yrs ago when I was 17 with it and today I have 2 beautiful lil girls 5½yrs old and 3yrs old and TTC#3, with the help of Metformin and Clomid. At this point yes you could have it and you may not have it, only further testing will tell you.

    Good Luck

  4. Most woman have cysts at some point most just don't realize it because it don't really affect them.  That doesn't mean PCOS...PCOS is much more than just cysts.  Your Dr can run blood tests to check your hormone levels and see if PCOS is a possibility.

  5. Don't be nervous. I know it is hard to hear some thing like that especially if you are trying to get pregnant. Id doesn't meant that you have PCOS. PCOS is usually characterized with more that multiple cysts. I have PCOS and I have had it for years and was just diagnosed with it 12 months ago. When I talked to my OBGYN about PCOS she broke it down for me. POLY= multiple, CYSTIC= cysts, OVARIAN= ovaries. SHe told me that all PCOS is multiple cysts on ovaries. Your doctor may want to perform more tests that will check hormone levels. You can have PCOS and still have children on your own, don't let anyone tell you differently. I am living proof that it can happen. I have a beautiful 10 week old baby boy. If you have any other questions or concerns email me.
