Fedor Emelianenko. The russian MMA fighter with a near perfect record of:

28 wins.

1 loss.

many people don't even think he should have a loss because he was disqualified by having a bleeding wound in the first round. He later rematched the person who opened his wound and beat him.

  1. no i am the best fighter i have 700 wins 0 loss

  2. Anderson Silva is the best.  Fedor has not faced top notch competition in awhile.  If he beats Tim convincingly no decision, then yes he is the best in the world.

  3. Best at what? Fighting in a ring with rules and a ref? Maybe. Fighting for his life against somebody with a knife that knows how to use it? Possibly but I would hazzard a guess that he doesn't do a lot of traning against weapons.

Your question is really un answerable except with opinions, because there are way to many variables to take into consideration. How would he fair on the street if there was Ice or if the pavement was slick.

No real definitive answer on this one.

  4. Arguably the best.  And you dont disqualified for a cut.  Its called doctor stoppage and its still a loss.

  5. unless he fights everyone in the world then no he cant be the best

  6. the simple truth is this. tim sylvia who is about to fight him says he is #1. gsp says he is #1.

  7. Mel Gibson

  8. We'll see how he does against Tim Sylvia in a couple of days.  If he wastes Sylvia within a few minutes, then YES.  I'll have to say that he's the best fighter of all time.

  9. Someone is always tougher, somewhere. It takes a bigger man to walk away from a fight!

  10. I'd be hard pressed to crown him as The Best without making some clarifacation for weight division. As a heavyweight I'd say his name would be at the top of the list in any conversation. If He beats Tim Sylvia (which I believe he will) and if a match with Cotoure ever comes it would go a long way toward staking a claim in his favor. For a big man he is a well rounded and as dominant as anyone in MMA history. I think the biggest knock against him is a recent lack of activity and quality opponents. That aside he's a hall of famer 4 sure and I can't think of another heavyweight I'd rank ahead of him.

Two other things that have to be part of the equation are # of fights (Dan Severn is 86-15-7 for example) and the fact that MMA today is very different than in it's early days. Today there are rounds, judges, restarts, etc.  In the past you might have one long 30 min rd and if no one was KO'd or Submitted it was a draw. So that has to be weighed into the equation as well.

  11. He's the best MMA fighter in the world right now for sure. He just   dominates the rest of the competition. See his fight with Kevin Randleman. He takes a huge suplex and comes back to win it. Unbelievable talent!

  12. i know about him, amazing fighter i agree but there is always someone better than you out there.

  13. he is a freak of nature, without doubt the best fighter on the planet.

  14. Chuck Noris!

  15. there is no such thing as the best fighter of all time..period.

fedor lost a match...regardless of why, he lost. yes he could've kept fighting most likely...and my have won...but that isnt what happened.

look at chuck liddell and randy couture. they have both beaten each other...so who's to say which is truly better? maybe randy would win the 4th fight...who knows.

and as was said before, unless he fights and defeats every single fighter who has ever lived...he cant be the greatest of all time...and that can never happen. there are also too many variables...is it a fair fight in a ring or cage? or does it count when some 17 year old punk stabs him in the back and slices his throat open too? how can anyone honestly say fedor could beat bruce lee for example?...the fight is impossible to predict because it will never happen. so the arena, the rules (or lack thereof) the circumstances and your definition of "fight" would vary the answer.

it's like saying mohammed ali was the best boxer of all time...impossible to say because he couldnt/didn't fight all boxers past and present...and future.

time is also an important factor...time doesnt stop so how can anyone be the best of all time?

largely it (like everything else) boils down to someone's opinion. jkd guys will always regard bruce lee as the best fighter of all time....fedor fans will likely always consider him the best.

also your definition of victory would matter as well....in the ring or cage...you have to WIN....in a street self defense situation...if you walk away and go home, or even to the hospital...as long as you survive...you win...you were successful. many fights go to a judge's decision (which i hate)...so who's to say really who would've won that fight had it been allowed to continue? ...i remember watching guys like oleg taktarov in the first few ufc's get their faces smashed open by guys like dan severn and keep on fighting.

bottom line:...everyone seems to be so worried about beating someone else, can i beat him, can i beat that guy? can i beat that other guy?...it doesn't really matter! i always tell people that there is NO art that can GUARANTEE victory. there is a gap that exists between a real fight (be it mma, sport, or self defense for your life) and what we practice in the gym or dojo. this gap is always in flux, it is always moving around as time progresses, technology progresses, and attacking methods and weapons progress...so you can never fully bridge that gap without becoming the very thing you want to defend yourself from....but you can make that gap smaller...and that is what the fighting aspects of martial arts are all about...making that gap smaller.

so rather than concentrating or focusing on beating this guy or that guy....simply say....today i'm going to improve MYSELF. in that endeavor...you will ALWAYS be successful.

  16. ALI

  17. Kimbo Slice is a joke. And I believe Fedor is a phenomenal fighter. But we'll see if he has such an awesome Career like he is now he might definatly be. I'd also like to see him sign to the UFC, the UFC is really lacking in the Heavy Weight department.

  18. 28 isnt alot of matches

  19. No, no, no! Chuck Norris is the best.

  20. he's the best, until he gets beat by someone better.  i can't wait to see what the MMA brings in about 10 years.  You'll see fighter like you have never seen before.

  21. No.  Anderson Silva is way more dominant in the middleweight division than Fedor was in the heavyweight division.

If you think about it, Fedor's wins were not really of that high quality.  Randleman, Cro Cop, Nogueria (sp?), are good fighters, but Chuck Liddell and Rampage both destroyed Randleman, Cro Cop got dominated then KTFO but Gonzaga (who isn' that great), and Nog was losing to Tim Sylvia before finding a way to win out of nowhere.  If he beats Sylvia then Couture or Arlovski, then MAYBE I might put him in the same league as Anderson Silva.

Anderson Silva, meanwhile, has destroyed everyone he has faced.  Franklin, Henderson, Marcquart (sp?) all of whom are near the top of the middleweight division, have been eaten alive by Silva.

  22. kimbo slice is the best

  23. No

  24. well almost every mma website that is credible says the best pound for pound fighter is anderson silva, as for the best of all time i don't think that anyone has that title just my opinion..

  25. that statement is opinionative, so different people will say different things unless you look at everythign statistically. but then there is still rom for argument there too

  26. no.. GEORGE ST. PIERE

  27. Fedor is one of the best, he should beat tim, I still would like to see him fight randy

  28. Having a a perfect record proves nothing except the fact that he won a lot of matches in a row. The world is a big place so theres always someone who is better than someone else even this guy.
