It doesn't burn, but it feels weird (not painful really, just weird) when I blink. I've put eyedrops in it a few times, with no affect, and it's looked like this for a day or two.

Is this pink eye?

Also, does the fact that I am on Accutane have anything to do with it, or will it affect the Accutane??

Please help.

  1. It only looks a little pinker than normal.  Does it feel like you have sand or something gritty in your eye when you blink?

  2. I don't believe so. i once had it when i was like 5 and myeyes were way more pink. but don't be too sure that its not

  3. Pink eye or conjunctivitis is a infection that can affect different parts of your eye. Usually with pink eye there is swelling - first around the eye socket itself but since it IS an infection it can affect the lymph glands going down each side of your face (feel in front of your ears at the back of your jawbone - if it is tender, swollen, or you can feel an actual knot it that is an infected lymph gland). Also, pink eye HURTS.

Conjunctivitis is also accompanied, almost without exception, with tearing, goopy, eye discharge. In the morning you can find that your eye has crusted where the discharge has dried.

Also, pink eye (conjunctivitis) can be spread from one eye to another as it is  very contagious. Know anyone else with the same symptoms?

All this being said - do you use facial products - acne lotion (you mentioned accutane, but that is a pill). Anything at all you could have put on your face and accidentally rubbed into your eye?  Anything on your hands that you could have contaminated one eye and not the other? You eye looks more irritated than infected. Stop putting ANYTHING in it - eye drops could make it worse or mask symptoms of another problem. Give it over the weekend and if it is still so red or if it becomes painful - see your doc.

I don't think it looks or sounds like pinkeye though.   Good luck.

  4. It's difficult for me to see the pictures as they come through blurry on my screen, but it appears as if the redness is only on one side of  your eye.  If this is true, it may be an inflammatory event.   Your eye may feel fuller than it normally would and maybe slightly irritated, but not outright painful.  Accutane could certainly cause it because it's known to cause dry eye, and if the eye gets dry enough, it becomes inflammed.  See your eye doctor and discuss it with the doctor who prescribed the accutane if your eye doctor concurs that it may be the culprit.
