My mom is 46 im 16. She said she would get me a porsche boxter if i payed the insucance! She has a 2002 buick rendevous, I heard that insurance for my car would be VERY exspensive for a kid. So i was wondering if i had her car under my name and Mine under her name, and I payed mine still, and she payed hers would it make a difference?

  1. No, you have to be older to have your own insurance, so your mom and u would be on the insurance, no matter who the car was titled to, you would pay the same just cause your name was on there....if your name was not on there and you got in an accident, you'd have a lot to worry about.

  2. If that actually worked everyone in America with a kid would put their kid on the cheapest car, but it doesn't work that way. The insurance companies assume the worse and that the kid is gonna drive the other car(s) too and thats what your quote comes from. It's gonna be the same really, if you put your name under your moms car souly than you will probably be excluded from the porsche and subject to a big ticket if you get pulled over or worse if you get into an accident cause u wont be covered.

  3. stick with the buick it will cost less cause the boxter is a sports car meaning its gonna cost lots more also think about taking drivers ed it is given in most schools either as a class during  the year or in summer school it will lower it also

  4. There not that stupid. Your rates are going to be high no matter what you drive. Besides if you do what you suggest you would not be covered to drive the Porsche. At 16 it's way to much car for you anyways.

  5. Every insurance company I have ever dealt with will either rate you against the most expensive vehicle in your household or exclude you from coverage on that vehicle. If they exclude you from coverage and you're stopped you'll get a ticket for not having insurance and in the event of an accident they won't cover you so you will really be in the soup. Besides, what you are proposing is considered fraud under the law.

  6. It will be little bit cheaper.  But in general at 16 you  are going to pay a lot.  That's because it is assumed you WILL get into an accident and do damage to OTHER cars.  And liability only covers OTHER cars - so it matters little what you drive.

    Good Luck...
