  1. Yes, deep fillings can hurt for a while.

I'd say It is probably very close to the nerve....in your case ...maybe too close...and the nerve may end up dying. (Root canal or extraction)

OR....it may be something as simple as a high filling. Go back and see your dentist and ask him to adjust the bite on the filling.... (this can cause a lot of pain!)

Unless the nerve is dying it shouldnt hurt for that long.

  2. it shouldnt. usually the cavity causes sensitivitym and the filling protects the tooth from it.

you should have it checked out, it may be loose.

  3. The most likely cause of this problem is that the filling was done improperly and the tooth as started becoming abscessed due to bacterial contamination of the roots. Go back to your dentist and have him look at it, take an x-ray and what not. That will confirm such a case.

  4. Occassionally fillings shrink and cause pain.  Fillings need to be put on in layers, but sometimes there is a layer that is too thick and may shrink under the photopolymer. Most of the steps in applying a filling can cause sensitivity if done improperly.  If the pain continues you may need a replacement filling.

  5. my tooth did cause my first dentist didnn't properly fix it so I went to a different dentist and he put a filling on and it still hurts he said that he would keep on trying to fix it but it still hurts
