  1. You need to be more specific!

    Where is this limit stated?

What is the model of your computer?

If you have a laptop, you are out of luck. Video cards/chips cannot be modified in notebooks.

If you have a qutie  old or very cheap computer, your motherboard/chipset may limit how much video memory it can utilize.

Otherwise, you are only limited by what kinds of busses you have on your motherboard. PCI (not express) video cards do not have much memory and are  slow.  AGP video cards are now obsolete but you can find some with 256 mb. PCI-express video card offerings include that level of memory.

  2. Just install your drivers for new Graphics Card and put the monitor on that Card and it will work fine. Max Memory is for built into memory, motherboard default.

PS. Put drivers in AFTER you install new card. Also make sure it doesn't have any power cables to be installed or plugged in and it should work fine.

PS 2. It automatically Disables onboard graphics after you install new driver.

  3. what that generally means is the onboard graphics card (the one integrated onto the motherboard) will only go to 128 MB..

if you put in a dedicated 256 MB video card, nothing should happen. but when you do put in the new card, you might want to disable the onboard graphics to prevent any conflicts
