Question:

Is this practical for my wedding?

After college, we plan to buy/build a house. We have saved up enough money to build our dream house. We would like something old/traditional in the country with a nice piece of land.

Would it be weird to have our wedding at the house we build? It would be brand new and the rooms would be temporarily decorated for the wedding. Both reception and ceremony would be there.

Here's a little bit of what we like (setting, style, etc)

There are multiple pictures of the house on the right of it. The red dining room would be GREAT for the cake cutting!!

Thanks guys!

  1. It's not uncommon, so go for it! It's your wedding, do whatever your heart desires! Plus it creates some great memories for your new house!

  2. Why not - what a wonderful way to fill your new home with love!!

  3. That sounds like a super idea and practical, too, so you wouldn't have to move the wedding gifts everywhere.  Just get a trusted person to look after the clean up while you're on holiday so when you get back, you won't have to start your lives with house-cleaning :)

    Congrats!

  4. thats an amazing idea. its like a present to yourself.  after working so hard you will find a great satisfaction having the wedding there.  its really practical, you wouldn't have to spend extra money for where you have the wedding. for the ceremony, i would do it in a church, temple or wherever is appropriate for you but its pretty good to do it there as well! congratulations!

  5. That sounds like a wonderful idea! Why not?! If you have space then you could have a beautiful garden wedding and reception. It would save on costs as well. I love that idea. Here are some pics of outside home weddings.

  6. sounds great. i would go

  7. You can have your wedding where ever you want it to be.  People get married from beaches to airplanes to horseback etc. etc.  If you want to "bless" your new home & get married there, I don't see any reason why not to.  Best to you & a wonderful future together...:)

  8. Wow.   Practical?  How about AMAING or AWESOME?

  9. WOW!  I think that is a GREAT IDEA!  Very nice....NOT weird at all!

    Good luck!

  10. I would say do the reception at a park nearby and then have cake/dancing/PARTY at you house!

  11. In my opinion, couples should marry wherever they want to and to heck with what anybody else thinks.

When I got married, I was renting a house on 22 acres and we had our wedding outside.  For us, it was perfect!

In your case, I think it would be very cool to marry in what will be your first home (beautiful house, by the way).  The rooms are beautiful and spacious.  It's a great idea to do this in the house before you have all your furniture and "stuff" because you'll be able to decorate it for a wedding and have plenty of room for guests and dancing.

Great idea!  I wish you the very best of luck in your marriage and in your new home!!!
