  1. yea i am 13 and the bigest fish i have caugh is my 1in mino that was my bait

  2. yeah that pretty good for freshwater fishing. I saltwater fish and back when I was 13 my biggest fish was a 40 inch redfish that put on a h**l of a fight.

  3. When I was in my 30's, about 20 yrs. ago, I took three trips in one year, down to Ky., & Barkley Dams, just to go fishing for blue catfish, & it was on my 3rd trip before I caught my 1st fish. It's about a 300+ mile drive from where we were living @ the time. (And it wasn't just me, I took the wife & both daughters with, just for the weekends.) That 1st Blue was a 2100 mile fish, (the 1st two trips were so bad, I couldn't catch a cold.) when I added it all up. I had caught fish there before, & everybody else was catching fish but me. There have been several more trips since then, (but not recently), & my biggest to date is a 32lb. Blue Cat.

So, ok, you have caught 5 fish, totaling 18 inches, not bad, not great, but you're catching fish, & I get the feeling that if you stay with fishing, just for the love, & fun of the sport, that this is just the beginning of a myriad of adventures you will find as you take your turn, traveling life's trail.

    Goodluck & Good fishing

  4. Well, not only is it good for an 11 year old, the simple fact that the 11 year old is fishing instead of playing video games is great.  Don't worry about the size of the catch, as more experience is gained, the size of the fish will increase.  If the 11 year old enjoyed catching those fish, it was not only good, it was great. Every fish caught means something to the individual who caught it, there is more to fishing than numbers or size.  When I was that age, each fish I caught, no matter what size it was, meant the world to me, every bit as much as my biggest marlin or tuna now.  Were it not for the butterbean bream I caught as a kid, I would not be fishing now.

  5. by 11 i had already caught salmon, steelhead and 42inch+ sturgeon

  6. Good Job youngster.  Keep up the good work.  But until you catch something bigger, throw the little ones back.  Remember, don't put a fish on your stringer unless you plan on cleaning it and eating it.

  7. well not to bad but i caught a 1bl. salmon 12in. when i was six.

  8. When I was nine I caught a 42 inch northern pike,a 7 inch sunfish,a 17 inch bass and a 14 pound pike.At ten I caught a 6 pound walleye that was 26 inches.But if your just starting those are great fish.Ive been fishing since I was 6.

  9. It could be worse, but keep trying and never be afraid to ask for advice from fellow anglers.Remember also it's not always about catching fish either.

  10. Not too bad, but not great.

Here's a link to Florida's Big Catch Program. It'll give you an idea of what you might want to shoot for as far as youth fish sizes and adult sizes of fish.

  11. That's not bad for a beginner, but check with local fishing regulations for minimum size limits. You may need to practice "catch and release", but that's OK. Put the fish back, and it'll get bigger for you to catch it again.

Welcome to the fishing brotherhood. Have fun!
