  1. The genius of the Harry Potter series is twofold:

    (1) the books are readable by fairly young kids, but still appealing to adults (I'm 37); and

    (2) the movies are incredibly well done (although I know what platroms 9 and 10 at Kings Cross look like - and they use somewhere on platforms 1 thru 8!)

Consequently, even tho' the series of books is finished - it will continue to pick up fans. Look at Tolkein or C.S. Lewis - their famous books were written before I was born - but they still get new fans.

My son's a too young for Harry Potter yet (the older one will probably handle it soon) - so there's two future fans right there (I guarantee it)!

  2. I think the HP mania dies down when there is nothing new. The last time was when the movie and the last book were coming out. Of course it was a huge thing. But then that died down and understandibly there was nothing else to be excited for. But now a new thing is coming out and the excitedness is coming back.

  3. i think so, i luv harry potter, i just watched the half blood prince trailer, kindaaa creepy...but, anyway, i also agree that twilight will b the nxt big thing, ive always thought aobut reading it..butt never understood what was so great about it

  4. I dont think it can be growing. The series is finished, I think the fan  base will remain the same, and slowly decrease over time.

  5. The fandom is always growing. We just appear less regularly on fandom_**** since the aftermath of Deathly Hallows. There is always new fic and art being done. It's just that there's less drama about what will or won't happen since we know.

It'll happen with Twilight too, now that the c**p Breaking Dawn is out of the way.

  6. I don't think the fandom is quite as pronounced just because there are no more books...but fans are still definitely involved in the last movies and are waiting for the 6th and 7th books to hit the big screen. So I guess it may be growing, but at a muuuch slower pace.

  7. I am sure that it is but why do we care?
