Is this proper grammar?

i know you aren't supposed to end a sentence with a preposition, but this sounds weird:

They discover that Bob is the Teacher for whom Simon and Eddie were working.

the other way would be:

They discover that Bob is the Teacher who Simon and Eddie worked for.

  1. I believe the first one is correct.  Why is teacher capitalized?  I would change that.

  2. Both sentences are correct. The first one is more formal. If the rest of the paragraph or piece of writing is informal, then use the second sentence.

If the book uses Teacher with a capital letter, then you follow the style of the book. There's a difference though between "the teacher" and Teacher as the title of someone. (In some cultures people who want to be polite say Teacher, could you tell me ....  )  In neither of your sentences should you capitalize teacher.

If this sentence is in a grammar exercise, then leave the capital T.

  3. It is perfectly OK to end a sentence with a preposition.

  4. The preposition placement doesn't sound weird; it sounds correct.  I think the problem is the beginning of your sentence.  Also, why is teacher capitalized?
