Question:

Is this racist or condescending?

I have written a magazine article for school. It's about the Indigenous contribution to Australia's war history. I have titled it 'Black Magic' because Australia's first Aboriginal fighter pilot named his aircraft 'Black Magic'.

Is that title appropriate?

  1. No.

Would you ask the same question if the title were "White Magic?"  Probably not.  There's nothing racist or condescending about the color of one's skin - only our views.

But you have a right to be a little scared with everybody screaming "foul" at nothing at all these days.  I'm sure it's a well written article.  Good luck.

  2. It's fine as long as you made some sort of reference to the aircraft.

  3. no its not ... but considering they call us white maggots, why not.

  4. no, its not inappropriate, but i bet someone finds a way to take offense.

  5. Since it is the guys name, I do not find it inappropriate at all.
