Is this rat cage ok? any recommendations?

Size wise it looks okay as most Ferret cages are ideal for rats. If you are unsure about the amount of rats this cage can hold, I would put the measurements into this website -http://www.rattycorner.com/odds/calc.sht...

but then for the number of rats it tells you, go one down to make sure your rats are provided with maximum space, especially if you're opting for females as they tend to be smaller than males and I think this site calculates by female size as opposed to male size. The only problem I would say you'd have with that cage is that huge tubing at the top - your rats will probably enjoy it and be perfectly able to fit through it but if they mess it in, it's going to be very hard for you to clean and you might find yourself removing it for cleaning everyday which is going to take a while and could get quite annoying. If you're happy to do that though it should be fine! If not, three great cages that I love are the Ferplast Jenny which can hold up to around 4-5 rats and is very good quality and easy to clean, the Savic Freddy 2 which is ideal for 2-3 rats, similar good quality and ease to clean and the Cavia Hotel which is good for lots of rats. If you're into space-saving the tall tower Ferret cages are brilliant to . Whatever cage you choose make sure it is big enough for rats, the bars are not too far spaced and it is NOT a tank.

the only thing I would consider when choosing a rat cage is bar spacing a rat can fit through a ferret cage bar space. They do make rat cages. I gave you a link to one I found on PetSmart's website.

I just bought two rats yesterday and they have a very large cage - I think that cage would be great for them but I find that the Freddy 2 is great, but they recently made a Freddy 3 cage at this website
