Is this really a bad GPA and can I still get into a good college with this?

Hello I'm a high school junior and right now I have a 3.69 unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. I thought it was ok, but my friend told me it's bad and I have no shot in getting into any good college with that grade. Is it really that bad, and do I have no shot of getting into a good university? Thanks.

  1. your friend's a liar.

your GPA is really good- and if you have alot of community service and extra curricular activities, that improves your chances greatly

(believe me, i had a bad gpa-worse than yours- but i did tons of volunteer work and such, and i got accepted to the school of my choice)

dont listen to your friend, i dont know what planet she lives in, but here she's wrong.

apply to as many schools as you want to, you'll get accepted to most of them

  2. That's a higher GPA than I finished with and I got into Carnegie Mellon.

  3. Your gpa is the equivalent to an A-, which is quite good.  You should have no problem getting into selective colleges/universities (assuming your SAT scores are decent).  Go to Petersons.com and look up your first choice colleges.  There will be info on the average high school gpa and SAT scores of the incoming Freshman class.  This will give you a good idea of your chance of admission.

  4. You're friend must be a Jealous Janet.

It's a perfectly fine GPA. Though SAT scores, community service, sports, extracirricular activities, and where you want to go all play factors into whether or not you get in.

  5. Since when is a B average bad. If that were the case colleges would be empty. There is more that colleges consider like SAT scores, sports and club participation. You may not get into Harvard but there are many good universities.

  6. You have a good GPA and you can get into college with.  Just keep up the good work and you will be fine.  Keep it as high as you can the higher the better for you.

  7. It really depends on where you want to go. In reality, that is actually a very good GPA, mine is a 3.64. You can get into any state school you want and certainly a lot of private universities, However, it always depends on your class rank, recommendations, and SATs scores. For a college like Yale or Harvard is it bad, yes. For a college like Rutgers or University of Florida, it's on the high end of average. For Ohio State or Rider University, you'll definitely get in. :)

  8. 3.69 isn't great but its not horrible. You'll probably be able to get into A college not necessarily the one of your choice but a college nonetheless.

  9. You will get into lots of colleges with that GPA. It's very good. Unless you plan on applying to an Ivy League or Purdue, Brown, and the like, you will be totally fine.
