The EU should not have so much (of my) money sloshing around that it can waste it on this kind of nonsense - why should the whole of europe have the same labelling -- we don't even have the same language (or units! - Make mine a quarter-pounder - how much fat per 100g???).

  1. i hate the idea of a huge state swallowing up all the wonderfull cultures that we have all enjoyed for thousands of years. why on earth do they want to make every thing globaly uniformed ??? i cant think of any reason for taking the colour out of the world?? the EU is a cancer on Europe that will eat away soul of all countrys involved with it. personaly i am exited by the differences. i love the whole thing. wandering around in complete confusion, not being able to speak the language and trying to look up the French for where the f@ck am i?? is excellent!! adds a bit of fun. i dont want to know exactly whats going on dont be so boring....((((( LEAVE ME ALONE)))))

  2. Bollocks to the eu.

    i still use Imperial weights&measures.

  3. long live the British way of life

                            Europe is for Europeans

                                     Rule Britannia,

                                  this Island breed

                                 Imperial measures

                           I don't wont to be a European

                                   Fish and Chips

If all these other countries and their people like the European style and way of life so much,  why do they all want to come hear? let them and their fellow ex Brit/Europeans

Bugger of out of Britain over the sea to Europe then we will all be happy.

  4. Hi there !

I spent over a quarter of my life as an exile in both E., as also W. Europe.  I spent at least the same again in the Mid. East & India, also Indo-China.

I have always lived confusion free, cave man fashion, with a handful of this & half a bucket of that.

I have always found the natives of this world to be slightly paranoid, often jealous, normaly in "survival mode" every time they meet a so-called "foreigner", therefore I always had to make myself welcome, producing my own "luck" & success as I went.

I have always found the old, tried & tested laws are the best, namely:

    If you need to ask the price, you obviously cannot afford to purchase;

No one ever pays the asking price.

After 13 years back in Blighty, I am still an ex-pat and most likely will remain so anyway.  What should I care, I was born & bred a Martian, & proud thereof!

Finally, when haggling we do not need to know the size &/or weight!

I have no great wish to emerge on any menu, as a Euro, Veggi, or any other burger.

I have equaly little desire to devour any politician or other civil-servant, Euro, British, or otherwise.

What use are any of these control freaks to any of us?

They have been looting, plundering, raping & pillaging us all in Uk for the past 2500 years, since the Roman invasion brought banking, book-keeping, accounting, currency etc. to these shores.

With all this came the passion for private, exclusive, ownership, possession, jealousy, & every form of blood-sport.  The populus became far more introvert.

  5. yup got to admit i don't use metric at all . far too European for me i think.

  6. Oh how I agree. Consider ordnance survey maps. Years ago they were published in the scale 1" = 1 mile. Now I knew what an inch was and, because I walked a lot as a youth (or rather marched, being an army private) had a fair idea of what a mile was and how long it would take me to cover it.

Now the maps are published 1:50,000. I don't even know what "1" is so how can I easily grasp what 50,000 are?

  7. Although I am very much anti EU I did agree with the Common Market policy in the way that we were led to understand it would work but as usual the politicians only told a small part of the truth, I certainly didn't want a united Europe.

However, the metric system of measurement is so easy to follow I cannot understand why there's so many dinosaurs like you around who would prefer we stick with the ******** imperial system (and I'm 63).

By the way, I've never bought a Marathon or tube of Shield (toothpaste) since the names were changed to Snickers and Signal (resp) so in that respect here, here.

  8. What the EU wants, the EU will get, by fair means or foul...
