I just heard that you get bigger as you get older and the older you get, the harder it is to work off that weight? Is there any truth to this?

  1. yes. its harder to lose weight the older you get. your metabolism goes down and your body isnt able to do the things it could back in the day. haha. but i dont know if its necessarily true that you get bigger as you get older. it could depend on what you eat and you treat your body. so just be careful and its fine. good luck!

    answer mine please!!

  2. Yeah, it holds some truth to it. But most people let themselves get that way. You can stay in shape all your life if you wanted.

  3. no thats like saying all old people are fat

  4. Yes, your metabolism slows down as you get older, making it harder to burn off calories and fat.

  5. No that is not true.  It is true that as you get older your metabolism slows down and if you consume the same amount of calories as you did when your metabolism was faster you will gain weight.  All one has to do when they reach a certain age is consume less (but only if they notice their metabolism is slowing down).  I am 53 years old and my metabolism is still extremely fast and I still do not gain weight

  6. Yes Its true. You could still lose the weight but its harder.

  7. I am not willing to  find out wich is why I am toning down the gluteus maximus just in case. The metabolism slows in some depending on how active you are. You kinda will it to work after a while I guess. Squats, lunges and yoga come on now. I am on board. Not trying to find out. noooooo.

  8. Even if you're sitting or lying down while reading this article, your body is still burning calories; the rate at which it does so is called your resting metabolic rate. As you age, your metabolism tends to decelerate by about 5% for every decade of life past age 40, so that if your resting metabolic rate is, say, 1,200 calories per day at age 40, it will be around 1,140 at age 50.

  9. no thats not true, if you stay active and eat right health will follow you into your late fifties and early sixties but if you led a sedentary life your screwed

  10. TRUE FACT !.

  11. Very True. Unless you keep an eye on your diet.

  12. No you do not always get bigger as you age,  Yes it does gets harder to lose weight  when you get older.

  13. actually yes that is true to an extent.  As you get older your matabalizm slows down tremendously.  Meaning that if you want to keep that toned stomache of yours than you it's a life changing choice you must make.  You have to commit to exercise and eating healthy....good luck.

  14. yes

  15. YES its absolutely true. I am 44 and everyone I know has a harder time keeping weight off and losing it.

But that doesn't mean you have to end up fat. You will have to pay more attention to exercise and diet though. You don't say how old you are, but if you are younger than 35 its better to start now and make it a habit instead of gaining weight at an older age and then having to work twice as hard to get rid of it.

  16. a lot of research points to an ideal weight that your body will fight to maintain. thats why people who lose weight often regain it and similar naturally thin people who try to gain weight lose it as soon as they stop trying.

The older you get the more this weight is ingrained as your body's ideal weight and the harder it can be to change.

As for getting bigger as you get older... Im not sure thats true, but with age can often come disability and inactivity which could lead to weight gain
