Is this really what they think we'll look like in the future?

I googled "future human evolution" and this was the first one that came up.

No, it doesn't make sense,not really.In the future we are supposed to lose our pinky toes and hair, but it doesn't make sense for us to become smaller fat,obviously slow moving creatures with no visible defenses,except the large brain.

i really don't think so, i think this picture is making fun of the people today. because its showing the person fat and bad lungs. I think there saying if we don't stop overeating and smoking our future could look like this. sort like somthing our parents do,they scare you if you do somthing wrong so you won't do that thing again.

Ummm nope. Evolutionarily speaking we have been getting taller through time. People are much taller now than they were 100 years ago. We are also always going to need laborers, so the muscles in the legs and arms will not atrophy like that. If our finger were to get spatula shaped, it would happen to all of them  not just one. As for the head shape and design, that wont change so drastically. The testicles and big posterior were obviously thought of by someone who had a serious case of wishful thinking as is evidenced by the size of said parts. So that picture is at best a misguided representation. At worst a clueless student that needed to come up with something for a project. It's obvious that they took components from Zoidberg and The Brain and threw together this monstrosity.

I'd say it's a projection, based on current ideas about what our future environment might look like, as well as what might be considered important for our survival in the future.



For instance:  How would it affect our continued evolution if pollution continued to increase?

- We might need bigger lungs in order to take in a usable amount of oxygen -- depicted as "hypertrophic lung capacity"

- We might need to be able to filter out some of the pollution from the air and from the food we eat -- shown as "multifiltered respiratory system" and "detoxification pouches"

- We might need to be able to see better in a dark, smoggy atmosphere -- depicted in the "enlarged pupil"

Similarly, they project a "spatulate index finger," "expanded buttocks," and "atrophied arms & leg muscles" as the result of our decreasing activity levels and increasing tendency  to interact with electronic devices by pushing buttons or keys.

I don't think this is really what we're supposed to look like.  I think it's deliberately creepy to make people think about what effects our current actions will have on the planet and on the lives of generations yet to come.
