Last night around 2:30 or 3:00 a.m. while I was laying in bed I thought I heard someone whisper my name in my ear, then a few seconds later I heard it again and all of a sudden I felt as if someone had grabed onto my shoulders and was trying to pull me backwards. I suddenly woke and sow that no one was there, but it felt so real! It scarred me half to death and now the idea of sleeping scares me to think that this could possibally happen again! Im not even sure if I was tottally asleep or not when that happened. My sister says it was our dad (who died three years ago) if so why would he scare me like that?! My mom says it was only my mind running wild, but Im not crazy and it felt so real...... What could this be???

  1. I'm a psychic medium which means I deal with spirits all the time.  I've never had one grab me like that.  Usually they are so happy I can do what I do...so they can say hello to their loved ones.  The affection I receive for my work is amazing.

I know it is possible for a spirit to muster enough (whatever) to do such a thing.  It could have been your dad, trying to get your attention and being somewhat clumsy and new at it. Or he could have awakened you so you'd remember.  Spirits will do that.

You have the upper hand.  You can command the spirit to leave immediately.  The problem comes if you get scared.  Then all h**l can break loose.

We get scared with the unknown and the unseen.  Doesn't mean there is actually something there which can harm us.

Fear is a magnet for negative forces.  Once you give way to fear, you've lost the fight.  anything but love can be dangerous.

Love in this case is more being centered and peaceful within....it's not being a threat yourself and not accepting threats into your life.  Very calm, no fear, assurred.

If it ever happens again, say inside your head (they will hear) "If you can't be nice then go away."

Then mentally imagine yourself bathed in purple light....all this lovely purple falling all around you...light purple....and keep that vision until you feel things are better.

Then the spirit will either smarten up and be sweet...having been informed they messed up....or....leave.

PS:  tell your buddies to stay away from the Ouija board....I don't even go near them.  They are an open channel to whatever wants to come in.  Some people have had a really rough time with that contraption.

  2. It is most likely a dream from what you said.  A lot of people experience the name calling thing when awake too.  I may be that you just feel that you want to contact your dad and this is just your dreaming mind working it out.  Don't  be afraid to sleep, I have never heard of anyone really being hurt by a ghost.  That just happens in Hollywood movies not in real life.

  3. get a video cam

  4. It is possible to have been a dream. However ghost do exist and yes it could be a family member but, it may not.

Keep notes of each event then contact a paranormal group.

  5. I'm just not able to totally believe about that sleep disorder called sleep paralysis. Too many people have seen the same things when this happens. I think that they (spirits) know that this is the best time to get to you. Or else..maybe for us..it's the time when we're able to 'see" or sense ghosts etc. If we get too deep in sleep...we're too much asleep to be aware of them. I'm just guessing. I think we'll all be guessing until we know the truth (which won't come from anyone here on earth).  I've heard someone call my name out..but it was right at the time I was supposed to wake up & I wasn't awake. (No..it wasn't my alarm clock .) Seemed like my mother..but IDK.

EDIT...IF this was your daddy..I'm sure he didn't mean to scare you . Being in his spiritual body..there probably wasn't any way to tell you he was sorry that he had scared you. (I'm  just guessing!)

  6. Thanks to the person that linked the SP link. I had that very experience a few weeks ago I thought I heard something like a growl and I thought I woke up and for some reason I said and I guess this was while I was sleeping is anybody there and it hit me again it growled and I was being held down. I was trying my hardest to wake up and I did after what felt like a good 4 seconds.  That was the most afraid I have ever been.   But was is really weird I was watching Ghost Hunters last week and they caught some weird ghost noise that sounded just like what I heard ... freaked me out  lol

  7. Your sister has no idea what she's talking about.  You were asleep.  This was a dream.  Nothing more to it.

  8. It could be as simple as a bad dream or it could be something more then that. There are many theories on the situation you describe. One of the theories offered by Sylvia Brown is that when you experience someone trying to hold you down what you are really experiencing is something called astral projection when your body realizes that the soul has left it and your soul is coming back into the body. Another theory is that a loved one that has past is trying to give you a message (not trying to scare you) but rather letting you know they are with you and just trying to get your attention. Most likely it is just a bad dream but in any case I don't believe you are in any danger at all. If it is your dad just acknowledge him and be thankful you had a chance to experience communication with him and let him know you are ok. Good Luck

  9. Could've been you were semi-conscious and were dreaming. Sometimes our mind has the ability to play tricks on us. If it was your dad maybe he wasn't trying to scare you. If you're half asleep and you hear your name whispered in your ear of course you will become startled. Try not to be frightened. If it happens again try to talk back to it or say out loud, "you're scaring me. Please, leave me alone." Bottom line you were not physically harmed in anyway just a little shook up.

  10. whoa that is scary. Maybe you were dreaming? or even half dreaming.

  11. Don't worry. It's just sleep paralysis. It's a very very, realistic dream that you can have while in a deep sleep. You can learn more about it here:
