Question:

Is this repairable?

I stuck the cable cord from my wall into the back of my Insignia 26" HDTV and it sparked brightly and now the jack is black and burnt. I'm too scared to hook the cable back up so I don't know for sure if my TV still gets a signal or not. If that has happened to anyone or you guys have knowledge of it, is my TV repairable? Will I still receive cable? Is this included under my warranty (keep in mind the TV is only about 5 months old)? Any help is appreciated.

  1. you should give them a call, it sounds like they can do a repair and if its 5 months old then it should still be covered under the manufacturers warranty, if you got a warranty at the store you bought it at then try there, it could take a couple of weeks, or not, but it is totally repairable

  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you have the power cord plugged into the wall socket first before plugging it into the rear of the TV?  I've never heard of plugging in a TV that way let alone having a removable power cord.  IMO, you should have the power cord connected to the TV and then plugged into the wall socket last.  If you're "too scared" to hook the cable back up, how do you know if the TV is defective without trying this again?  If it's under warranty, you shouldn't worry about this.  You didn't do anything wrong other than to plug your TV to a power source.  Just do it.
