"Wilfull Ignorance"

They preached

salvation,

condemnation...

they never knew you.

A soul

more pure

than they

could ever dream--

your darkness even,

shone.

With sympathy,

they thanked me,

unafraid to show

their tears.

They didn't

know.

That door

they feared

you'd opened...

I had stood

on the other side,

gave you

the key,

said,

"It's all right."

When you opened it,

arcane opalescent radiance.

You took my hand,

we danced.

No,

they never knew you,

they never knew us.

  1. I like it.

  2. If this is vengeful, then it is certainly understandable that you should feel this way. But, you are a compassionate and beautiful person, and I know that you will find your way through this.  Perhaps even willful ignorance is forgivable in the end. This is meant to be validating and yet give hope.  I hope it comes across that way.

  3. The last three lines are very powerful and also very sad. To hold somebody back from being their true self is a true tragedy.

  4. I never knew her either, not in the biblical sense....

  5. Poetry as social commentary... I like it....

  6. I have not read any of your pieces for quite a while, and I am glad I have just done so. You really have a style, very terse and to the point. Very nice.

  7. Blessings Be.
