Q- Write a paragraph on the benefits of advertising. Make sure your paragrah has a topic sentence that develops 1 main idea about advertising followed by supporting sentences which explain the role of advertisement in the market?

Ans- Benefits of advertising

It has been universally accepted that advertising is an important tool of marketing of the products. The expenditure on advertising is regarded as a profitable investment. The main benefits claimed of advertising are as follows:-

1- 3 R’s of advertising

These are retaining the loyal customer, reducing lost customers and recruiting new customers.

2- reduction in per unit cost

Advertising enables a businessman to increase the sales of the product.

3- increase in employment

Advertising increases the sales volume of goods and provides employment to a large number of workers

Good effort so far.  I'll just add a couple of thoughts:  

- Your 3 Rs are only 2 Rs - where's the R in point 3?  

- Typically what you try to measure in advertising is return on spend or return on investment: to do that you need to set up some pretty good measurement systems.  (But I don't see advertising as a profitable investment.)  So your statement: "The expenditure on advertising is regarded as a profitable investment." might read more like "Effective advertising includes measuring the return on investment."

- Advertising is one marketing tool.  Most effective marketing happens when you use advertising and other marketing tools (e.g. personal selling, public relations to raise corporate identity, etc.).

I understand the 3R's, but there are a few points that I dont agree with:

-  Advertising does not generally advertise a product or service, advertising conveys the advantages of using a specific product or service

-  Nobody can guarantee a profit, so advertising cannot be termed a "profitable investment", but rather would be considered as an potential income generating tool.

You have to research what advertising really is for - and what the difference is between advertising and branding.
