Question:

Is this route toll free?

I was wondering if someone could help me out because I do not live in England and I am planning to go there soon.

I used Google Map and type from "150 Piccadilly, London" to "Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham" and it tells me that it would be about 2 hours 10 mins by car.

And the thing that I want to know is that, is this route toll free or not?

Thank you and I really appreciate if anyone could help me out.

  1. Just punched this in on my Sat Nav and it said that there are no tolls. My Satnav also seems to think that the journey takes 1hr50mins

  2. You would be starting from the centre of London so you would have to pay congestion charge there, as long as you stay off the M6 toll road though the rest is toll free.

We don't do much in the way of toll roads in the UK to be honest.

  3. Yep! You won't pay a toll - its mainly over bridges or tunnels that you pay a toll in the UK!

  4. Hmm. Be VERY VERY careful here. You may be directed via the M6 Toll depending on routes, which yes, is a toll road. There is a way that you can leave the M42 just before it splits into the M6 Toll & M42 and follow the 'cross-country' back routes to Sutton C (not advisable if you don't know the area / think this is google's chosen route), however, to be sure and to get an easy-to-follow route, I would click 'Add extra destination' on google / via on others and make the Via Point 'Walmley' or on google, make London A, Walmley B and Sutton C.

    Hope that helps

    Richard
