Is this sentence grammatically correct? Help please!

"Although I have been taking up short French language courses every year, I have not been taking up traditional education since 2005."

Is that grammatically correct? If it doesn't sound good enough, especially to a British who will be reading it, please reconstruct the sentence. Thank you so much.
