was he right to sue middlesborough and smith for what happened and will this just open the floodgates for things that will happen in the future or what has happened in the past?

  1. of course he had the right to sue! the tackle ended his whole soccer career, which he probably worked day after day to keep going. the tackle was not a good one, very blatant, so of course he has the right, his career was destroyed after that tackle and a huge part of his life.

  2. i find the amount awarded staggering but think the idea is a good one.i think the club should have to pay the lot as if the managers cant control or criticize their own players then maybe having to fork out huge sums will maybe make them think twice.as mentioned two viscous tackles that deserved severe compensation was alfie haarland and john kennedy.i just hope that the can differentiate a tackle with intent from a mistimed or accidental one.

  3. tut tut imagine a young lady asking about a mans tackle is nothing safe nowadays !!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. yep agree they should be compensated to some degree..but as wee ger says surely that's what personal insurance is for...maybe it will make people think a bit more before they launch into reckless tackles...i don't really think the clubs can be held accountable for all of them though..how do they work out how much compensation is deserved..does it go by which team you were playing for..i.e would a wee accies starlet get the same as a man utd starlet..don't think so x

welcome back rico..missed your wee friday funnies..xx

  5. lol@ Thomas' reply

I reckon if it ends the career of any player yeah they are just as entitled as anyone to claim compensation!

That said, surely his personal insurance would have paid out enough to get him by?

Rico, huge hugs and welcome back my friend x

Yeah my q made it back on the board thanks to you re posting it on yours ta much babe x

  6. there has been to many careers ended early by reckless players and they go on to make millions while their victims are left with nothing so its about time that these promising young stars are looked after, but maybe the football powers that be should be looking at the punishments they should give to players who commit these offenses I don't think clubs should be blamed

  7. a few seasons ago now i remeber Roy Keane being banned for something like 8 games and fines £155,000 after a crazy revenge tackle on then Manchester Citys defender Alf-Inge Håland.

the tackle ended Halands career and he threatend legal action against Keane but in the end never did, due to the punishment that the irishman had already revieved.

and then look at the tackle on Eduardo last season and the one on John Kennedy by Romainias Ionel Ganea.

i think suing other players on these disgusting tackles is something that isnt all that bad. Look at the punishment these mentalists get for lunging at other players to the injuries and ultimatly career wrecking situations thier opponenes find themselves in.

Football associations dont give out hard enough punishments and dont support them guys that have to quit the game.
