I want to get a 46 inch sector nine super cruiser. i definitely want a longboard and from what i've read on this board it's perfect for my intentions. but, since i've never skateboarded before, should i get one closer to 40 inches?

  1. Wow - these answers are horrible. All bearings go the same speed? WHAT?

First, longboards go FASTER for LONGER distances. They have more mass than a standard board, so they have more momentum for the same speed..all this means is that you will go farther, faster, on a longboard. I swear, the math doesn't lie.

I've pasted a link to the best online board shop in existence. Here you'll find a guide for what sizes you should be looking for, and how longer/shorter boards will differ. It's a good read.

now get a board and start carving.

  2. I dont really know much about longboarding, but ill tell you now, they move much faster than regular skateboards. If i were u, i would start small and work my way up.

For instance, buy yourself a walmart or target skateboard, which has no bearings. Once you learn to move on the board, and balance, go buy a blank skateboard from zumiez.

The reason i say blank, is, you are only going to use it to get used to the speed and learn to slide and brake. Get a good set of bearings, preferably Bones Reds. They make your board move faster.

Once you get the slides down, which, to be specific, is the pendelum slide, you can buy a longboard of any size, and go have fun with it!

  3. Longboards are not faster then regular skateboards.  It is all based on the bearings, that makes speed faster, and all bearings go the same speed unless you are going at speeds over 200 mph..  I would definently get that 46 inch longboard.  The longer the board, the less you have to worry about speed wobbles.  Speed wobbles is one thing you don't want when bombing hills.  It will usually leed to some road rash.

I got my first longboard a few weeks ago.  It is a 46 inch sector nine too.  I usually do street and flatground skating, but longboarding is pretty fun too.
