Is this some type of virus? urgent, please help?

i have 3 canker-type sores on my tongue that hurt so bad i can barely talk or eat, and they have just popped up without warning. my throat also hurts and as of 10 minutes ago there is a random bump in the middle of my lip. this has all happened within the past 4 days. i went to the doctor and they didn't seem to care about the sores but i got a strep test. could these be caused by some sort of virus? how long will it take to go away? any input is appreciated, as i am extremely frustrated.

Rinse with salt water twice a day, apply ora-gel as well as you can and take zinc supplements.  Either way, this will treat the symptoms.
