Question:

Is this something that everybody has??

I constantly have music playing in my head, it's okay during the day but when I'm trying to sleep or anything or if I am in an exam situation etc. its just constantly there and the song changes all the time and if it's a song that I only know a couple of the lyrics then it will just keep repeating the same line over and over - I have had this for as long as I can remember and I'm just wondering is this something that everybody has??

  1. I have the same problem most of the time it's bad in the morning. Even before I've even listened to any music!!I I have found that if I don't listen to it in the car or at home when my mind is on "auto pilot" it seems to help. I don't know if this helps keep it out of my subconscious mind. But, it gets me by.  I love listening to music so it is a sacrifice. Try it and see if it works. Stop playing it when your driving or doing things.


  2. This is an early indication into a mental health issue, it would be unfair for me to diagnose you here for the world to see, but I strongly suggest you visit your GP and explain your situation. He should refer you to the relevent practitioner.

Dont worry i have this problem, i normally try to think about something elese, normally, this may seem a little weird but when i have it and it doesnt go away i 'imagine' im locking all the songs in my head so they cant play, no idea why i do it i just do it natually as ive done it a long time

  7. I have that, and I've always had it. It caused problems for me in college, and I eventually had to completely shut out all music. I hated doing that because I really love music.

    I found that it stopped about a week after I stopped listening to any music. I also started meditation, which helped me control my thoughts to stop the music and concentrate on other things.

    Is it any wonder I'm a musician. If you love music, try going for a Music major in college, you certainly have the brain for it.

  8. yea i do. wen ever i close my eyes all i hear is music at high volume and the lyrics just float around in my head and when ever a test or watever comes shoot they work non stop

  9. Yes, everyone seems to suffer from this. Worst of all is those annoying TV jingles - right now I have the ladybugs picnic advert on a loop around my brain, over and over again.

    1 2 3, 4 5 6, 7 8 9, 10 11 12 ..... Aaaaaaargh!

  11. I have always had that, i got it particularly bad during my GCSE exams, i mean it was terrible, my mates sang songs before we went into the exam hall. When i sat the test i found it really hard to concentrate because of the repeating lyrics/chorus's i heard.

    So yeah, i guess everyone had this going on :P

  12. Its normal to have this everyone has it, my son nearly went mad because he had the yellow submarine going over and over in his head. At the moment i have the darkness going thru my head (i believe in a thing called love).

  13. I wouldn't say "constantly", but quite often. And I can even get someone's name going round round round in my head, especially at night when trying to sleep or in the morning if I wake up a bit too early and try to go back to sleep. It's really, really annoying but I'm pretty sure it's normal.

  15. hahahaha me to non stop school work even when i am eating it dosent stop or i am always trying to reply song using paino or guitar with out any notes just by ear im getting pretty good at it to lol  

  16. Yea, I often get that, and its usually my own interpretation of a song that I already know. At the moment, I have the ting-tings 'shut-up and let me go, HEY!' playing over and over, but just that line. LOL! To be honest. I don't even think that those are the words. Probably just embarrassed myself. Ahh well. I'm glad to know that i'm not just one-of-a-kind.  

  17. No, not actual music, but I have a constant ringing called tinnitus.

    Other than that it sounds like an auditory hallucination. There are several medical explanations for this, but this would have to be explored with your dr, so I suggest you talk to your dr about it.

    I get that problem sometimes but only for a couple of hours; I think it's because your brain is looking for something to occupy itself to relieve the tension, sort of like when you swing your legs on a chair when you're bored.

  21. Try a music fast for a week or so (i.e. avoid listening to music for a week or two if you can). After that things should improve and you should know how to control it.

  22. i have that too but not as bad as you say it is...its not like all day but most times...hotel california by the eagles is playing right now for me haha mainly because i was learning that song on the guitar yesterday :)

  23. Yes. Havn't you ever heard people complaining that there's an annoying song stuck in their head?
