Some of you are not born yet, but to those who witnessed this or knew the story, did the Beatles really snub Imelda?

I got this link from email.

  1. sadly it is very true

  2. It must be true.

Although, I for one, have no interest in the matter.

I have heard that due to persistent public demand, every cop in the country wanted every long-haired Pinoy to get off their buses and have a haircut, free of charge, from waiting experts in the highway.

If anything, that alone endangered the Propaganda Movement, since most carriers of mimeographed materials had long hair, and hair inspections often turned out activists who were apprehended because of this.   So, these comrades had to sing "Yesterday, all my troubles seem so far away..."  in Camp Crame or elsewhere, as they face interrogators.

  3. I was 16 and I watched the a very orderly concert. Being the 1st year of Marcos regime(after a rigged election, Lopez was the Vice-President) he saw the potential of popularity among the youth of those days. They made a plan to control the youth and sent a bunch of PSG to harass the Beatles. Beatles music was banned from the media since then. Marcos learned that he can control the people by using the Media. A prelude to implementation of Martial Law in the Philippines. Now, Filipinos are still on the same gut controlled by the Media and a few rich people.

  4. Nice article.  I remember something of this event although I was just a young teenager at the time.  I think everybody pretty much kept track of what those guys were doing back then.  I'm not surprised at all about their treatment, with or without the Imelda snub. It seems not much has changed with the attitude of Filipinos towards foreigners.

  5. i think it's true. heres another report saying the same thing.

  6. i was not born that time... but its true!

oh look, only 20 - 30 pesos for a concert ticket!!!

  7. Yes, it's true. I wasn't there but I was told that they even quoted that we (filipinos) looked like monkeys. The police and their securities had to tighten up a bit coz an angry mob failed to assimilate their comment and wanted to clobber them to bits. What can you expect. They're famous, young, and wild and free.

But still, they were loved by almost everybody in the world. I, for one, had forgiven them, and in fact I became a Beatlemaniac myself. They may not be good persons but they're exceptionally good in their craft.

  8. yes its true. john said, this country have a first lady!

  9. I don't know if that's true.

but when I asked my mom just now,

she said that the Beatles really did go here.

umh, she was just 5 years old back then.

    no wonder she couldn't remember.

  10. Ya I heard it from my parents and it was all falsifications by the media. I felt so sorry for the Beatles.

  11. The Beatles not showing up at Malacanang is true. Although, snubbing Imelda is just the media working.

Paul Mcartney said in an interview in The Beatles Anthology, that they declined Imelda's invitation because they were too tired from their flight and concert in Japan. Of course if you are a Marcos, and you were declined by a 'nobody' like The Beatles...you will receive more than just insult from the Filipinos.
