I am an elite swimmer and latley I feel like my life is controled. I went to the US olympic trials and came back to practice compleatly motivated. But When we ran around the track I nearly passed out. I felt really sick and my whole body started to cramp up. I drank lots of water and it didn't help. I sat down in the grass and when I stood up I got really dizzy. I wasn't sick because a cupple hours later I was fine. We practice 2 hours in the morning and 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon. I am tring to get tripple A times so I can Qualify for the national zone meet. I am pushing my self as hard as I can. Do u think this is stressing me out. Or am I just nervous.

  1. over working

  2. i think ur stressing urself out. if u r pushing ur self than ever before then ur body isnt used to it so u will feel sick and dizzy. if u took it step by step, doing more and more slowly then ur body will get used to doing a lot of practicing

  3. Sounds like you are overworking it.  From time to time, even an elite athlete needs to take a break.  Talk to your coach, maybe you need to cut out  a couple of practices during the week so you have more rest and recovery time.

  4. Did you swim or workout at all while you were at trials (I assume you were watching)? Not swimming for a few days or a week and then jumping right back into a 4.5 hour a day routine can be a lot of stress on your body. It may have been better to do one practice a day for a couple days.

Also, was it hot outside when you were running? Even if no one else felt dizzy from the heat, you may be more sensitive to it.

Finally, it could be stress. Focus on the motivation you felt from being at the trials and not the time you HAVE to make. It's good to have a goal, but there's a balance between striving for the goal and letting the goal control you and how you feel about yourself.

  5. You may be a bit stressed. Just take some time to chill out and relax. You'll be fine. But if that doesn't work, just go to a doctor.!
