Question:

Is this stressful?

I am thinking of giving a 15 day tour package to Europe, to my mother on her 70th birthday. She will be going alone with a bunch of strangers (I mean other tourist). She always wanted to go to Europe. She could be on the run non-stop for 15 days!

I was wondering whether this would be too much for my mother to handle physically (healthwise).

Is there anyone out there, who has experience with such tours? What is your opinion of physical demands of such a trip?

Thanks.

  1. dont let her take to many tours! evry once and a while let her go back to the hotel (veeeeeeeeeeeeery often) make sure you get your meals and dont drink the water there stick to sodas and energy drink WATER IS A BIG NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!! and make sure you get money exchanges for sovenirs and stuff at the airport oh and definetly go with her

  2. A lot of people that age go on such tours.

They are the ones with the time and the money : )

If she is in good health, it should be no problem.

If she finds the itinerary too demanding,

she can always take half a day or a day off

and stay back at the hotel to rest up while

the rest of the group troops off to the museum,

shopping, cathedral, shopping, city park and

    more shopping.

There are also usually "on your own" times,

sometimes a half day or full day, when she

can go at her own pace.

One more piece of advice for any age traveler:

pick a tour that doesn't cover TOO much geographic

distance, and visits just one or two countries.

That will maximize the depth of the experience and also

minimize the amount of wasted time just barreling

down the highway to get to the next stop.

    These 10-countries-in-15-days tours are just

    a blur anyway.

  3. Take it for your self, let the old go watch matlock

  4. Just go with her.

  5. sounds amazing shell probly love it , and wouldnt worry its a tour not a boot camp and im sure ur mom knows what she can handle , if shes always wanted it then give it to her  shes 70 i think she needs it

  6. Have you checked as to age grouping of the other tourists.  If they are all older i.e similar age to your mother I am sure that it will be suitable as they have a lot to cater for.  If they are all younger age grouping you may find the travel will be geared to the majority, so therefore be faster paced and she may not be up to it.

You know your mother best so just do your homework.

  7. You should go with her I'm sure nothing would please her more then spending time with you.

  8. I just did something similar with a study abroad class that was about 2 weeks. I am a college student and by the end of the day my back hurt and feet killed. It depends on your mother though. Perhaps you should bring it up to her first and give her the option. It takes the surprise out but that way you will know for sure. Good luck!
