Question:

Is this stupid? (class schedule troubles)

To ask your counselor if it is possible to change a class on your schedule because you would prefer a different teacher? Or to change a class period?

I'm mean to just ask, not try to force them to change anything.

I mean, the student is the one who has to deal with their schedule the whole school year. Why not at least TRY?

What's your opinion on this?

  2. no not stupid if ur unhappy they'll most likly fix it so yea go ahead and ask!

  3. nope

    you have every right to

a note from your parent/guardian helps a lot too!

    XD

    hope everything runs smoothly!

  4. I'm in the same process =) I want to change my lunch hour...

My councellors at my high school are sort of strict, they don't like to change schedules. However, I'm telling a little white lie to make sure I get the classes I want ;]

  5. omg, i remember when i was in middle school the same thing happened to me! i got stuck in music appreciation and i didn't like it so i just tried to switch it. our school told us that not liking the class is not a good reason to switch out of it... but when i filled out the form to changed my schedule in the spot where it said "reason of change:" i wrote "i don't like the class" and somehow they changed it for me.... it was a miracle. so if i were you i would at least try! good luck!

  6. It doesn't hurt to ask.  I've known people to change classes because they didn't like the teacher.

  7. i always complain at my counselor

hes always changing round my timetable

coz counselors are made to help you

and if that means changing your schedule to make you happy then they should do it

    no questions asked

  8. oh definately i change me schedule all the time :) most colleges have an online site where you can change around your schedule all you want. thats what i do so i dont have to bother them all the time, and then i just email my counselor if i have questions.

  9. I remember back in high school on the first days, everyone would always go to the couseling center for class change.

All of my friends said they were able to get it changed.

  10. If I was unhappy with my schedule, I'd most definitely ask. After all, that's what the counselors are getting paid to do.

  11. Oh, people do it all the time. You definetly can ask. You usually need a good reason, but one like you'd prefer a different teacher is good if its like you need a different teacher because you dont like/get along with that teacher. And if you just want a different teacher for no good reason, just pretend you like dont get along with your teacher. My friends have switched lunch periods to be with friends but come up with an excuse like "It would make my schedule so much easier on me" and they always by it. Just talk to them as soon as possible. Good luckkk!

  12. If i didn't want the teacher, or the class period i would definitely ask to be changed to a different class.

  13. I would try! If i didn't like a teacher I would definetly switch classes! But if they don't let you just always go to the bathroom during that class or get a note from another teacher saying that you have to stay with them that period to help with stuff.

And btw don't feel like your nagging... it's thier job to help you!

  14. In high school I was a TA in the student services office, I assure you that people do it all the time. It was never that big of a problem and most people got what they wanted.

  15. yeah they usually will do it.

  16. id try it.

  17. Yeah, I practically have mine altered every year. You have EVERY right to change yours with a counselor. It's your education.

  18. i know what you mean, i usually ask to get the teachers that will actually TEACH me lol no its not stupid at all, its just trying to accomidate yourself with a desireable schedule.

  19. id try to get it changed

  20. Do not be afraid to ask the counselor about these problems such as changing classes etc. That is the counselors job. The counselors are there to help you. Why don't you talk to your teacher about this. It is no big deal to change the classes. What is a big deal is your education. That is why the teachers and counselors are there. The best of luck.

  21. Of course it's stupid.  If you feel like you're nagging, you are nagging.  Don't you know that counselors have much better things to do than give you advice?  After all, you're just a student, right?  Even though you're a senior, you could never graduate if you keep annoying the counselors.  They are important people, and you are not.

  22. Its probably different at different schools but my counselers specifically stated on the sign up forms that those kind of requests won't even be considered. However, talking to them in person might do something. Might as well trybut try your best to be humble and not demand anything, if you know what i mean.

  23. At my school, we weren't allowed to switch out of a class because we wanted a different teacher, but if you're allowed to, I would definitely try.

Some kids just learn better with different teachers and all teachers have different styles of teaching which work for some but don't for others.
