  1. I have extreme doubts about any sword that costs 150 bucks.

  2. it looks just like any regular samurai sword, it's not all about the quality it's about the swordsmen using it. then again depending on how sharp it is, it could cause some damage if used properly

  3. It is not a "real katana" in that it is not made with Tamehagane steel.  For it's make, though, it appears to be of good quality as a "wall hanger".  I've had swords of this general makeup, and they remain steady for a while, they can eventually lossen in the handle.  It should not, though, be taken into edge to edge sparring of any kind.  If you want a nice show piece, this sword will serve it's purpose well.  If you want a standard quaility sword that is cabaple of being used for training, I reccomend th Paul Chen Practical Katana, or the Paul Chen Practical Katana Plus.

  4. I am Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod, there can be only 1!

  5. No. It is certainly not a quality sword. It is one notch above a wall hanger.

  6. NEVER try to cut anything with a sword that is of questionable quality.Even practicing with a "wall hanger" can cause a disaster.Any part of a blade, even a cheap one will cut you or anyone around you when you least expect it. With that said;

    There are plenty of web sites with qualified persons who review swords and such so do check them out. Even if an authority on swords answers your question on this forum you still need to read everything with caution. I have collected blades for years and It is impossible to tell the true quality of any sword just from a picture. If you are interested  in knives and swords "Blade magazine" is a great publication you might want to check out.

  7. Again, it doesn't have the quality of a real combat sword, but it may be good for display or cutting if you get it sharpened.

  8. Malcolm there is right and just to give you a little perspective on swords the real, authentic ones are registered and considered historical artifacts by Japan.  It takes an export permit to get one out of the country and the fee for that is or used to be $500.00.  Those swords go for thousands and even hundreds of thousands of dollars in some cases.  While the web site says this is hand forged it probably was in one day or it could even be drop forged and they are just misleading you.  The authentic ones were hand-forgedd over weeks of heating and folding and refolding the metal and then cooling it by trained, knowledgeable craftsmen not just in one day by someone pounding out one.
