Question:

Is this symptomatic of a lateral medullary lesion in cats?

1.5 yrs ago, my cat (who is now 12 yrs old), started having little trembles. I took him to the vet who referred me to an out-of-state neurologist. Ya--sounds really affordable, I know! Anyway, b/c his quality of life is still great, he eats well, purrs a lot, grooms himself, etc., I have chosen not to seek the care of a specialist. He still trembles a lot and has increasingly lost his balance when jumping on or off of furniture or my lap. Now he has hiccups frequently. It'll last for about 5 mins, w/a hiccup every 15 secs or so, and this occurs about 4x/day. My research indicates all of these sypmtoms combined are symptomatic of a lateral medullary lesion in humans. Any vets out there with an opinion about extrapolating this to felines?

  1. If you had stuck with the referral of your vet, the cat may have been cured of all of this, these are the symptoms of this particular lesion.

I called my vet before answering this, and the symtom will not go away without treatment from a specialist such as a neurologist.

you may to rethink and take the cat to the specialist.

sorry that your cat is not doing too well.

good luck and god bless your little baby,.
