i have a 2 year old leopard gecko that's living in a 20g tank (24x12x15)and it seems a bit too small to me should i move her to a bigger tank or do you think shes fine?(pics below). i was also wondering if smaller hides than i have now would be better for her.

  1. yes just go get a lilttle bit bigger one there not expensive at the pet store hope i helped!!!!

  2. That really isn't much floor space for a gecko.  It looks like a moisture hide on the left, a water bowl in the center, and a hide to the right.  There's not much floor left for the animal to move around on.

I'm not sure about your temperatures, but are you able to provide the gradient she needs for a warm and cool side in that small tank?

Kuddos on the paper towel substrate (sand or loose substrate is a bad idea for Leos).

I wouldn't suggest a smaller hide or moisture hide.  But, you might want to think about upgrading to a 20 gal. long (30L x 12 1/2 W. x 12 1/2 T. outside dimension) for her, or even a reptile 20 gal. long, which provides more floor space.

Enjoy your pet, and I hope this has been helpful.

  3. The gecko is fine just that you have too many items. Take out the orange box thing and the green thing. Get it a larger water dish for it to soak in.

  4. I would get a 20 long aquarium.

Instead of height, you'd get more width.

OR! You can add levels to that tank.

If you don't want to change tanks, just make the best out of the height that you have!! I plan on doing this for my two geckos if I can get them to be friends =]

    Hope this helped!!

Of course if you don't want to go through the trouble of making those kinds of set ups go to craigslist.com or something, and look for a 20 long.

    Hope this helped!!

  5. No! It is not too small because I have a leopard gecko myself who has lived a long time! I love him!

Please do not pick him up by his tail though...I did that and it fell off! But its OK, it grows back. But I was very stressed when this happened.

My gecko loves sand in the bottom of his cage! And he loves having a place to curl up in and hide!

  6. 20 gallon should be long and not tall...it gives them more floor space.  I would switch to a 20 gallon long.  And never use sand (as suggested above) with geckos!

  7. No. That is a perfect size, all you need is maybe some sand or something instead of a napkin:)

  8. yes way too small, and not appropriate for a gecko.  you need something bigger like this http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/Ke... with plenty of plants and rocks etc

  9. she needs a terrarium or a vivarium, not an old aquarium. this tank isnt long or wide enough and it is too tall. try a 20 breeder terrarium.

  10. Ok. I would not keep mine in a tank that small. But the tank itself is ok by some standards.

    I use a 40 breeder. It is 36x18x16. A 20 long is fine too.

If you pick you leo up by the tail you are just stupid. If you have your leo on sand you are even more stupid.

You need a warm hide. A cool hide and a moist hide. Why do you have coins in there?
