The only people that caused people to die, was the dumba@@ that stayed in New Orleans when told to get out.  The were warned they were a bunch of retards who thought they could ride out a major storm.  The they cried like babies because the gov't wouldn't bail thier butts out, typical because most of them were welfare babies anyway and were use to getting that check at the first of the month.

Anyone who knows anything about emergency preparedness knows that in a true disaster you can't expect help for 3 days.  That is why every school and business in LA is required to have 3 days of food and water in perpetual expectation of the 'big one' earth quake.  That is a local control matter.  New Orleans flunked basic emergency preparedness, not even having satellite phones, then reelected the mayor responsible.

please don't forget, Bush offered federal help the day Katrina hit and La. gov. Blanco refused it outright...OUTRIGHT!!! i ask you, what was he to do at that point? It's obvious how uniformed you are. Even the liberal news networks are reporting that Bush will NOT attend the RNC because of the hurricane.

I'm in the National Guard and have already been notified that I might be having to go down there. It irks me that when we have floods and disaters in my own state, we take care of it ourselves, but since we all know how Louisiana can;t take care of themselves, we are already planning how to clean up their mess.

Also, since when was it the president's job to save people from bad weather? What ever happened to common sense of, you know, ummm... FLEEING WHEN TOLD TO EVACUATE. The Coastguard and national Guard can only do so much.

When did President Bush "let Americans die"?  If you are referring to the federal government's response to the hurricanes three years ago on the Gulf Coast, you are sadly misinformed.  There is nothing in the Constitution of the United States that allows the federal government to be involved in post-storm recovery.  If the people along the coast chose to live there, they also chose to be responsible for their own safety and property repairs.  I never saw any of them going north to shovel snow from roads and sidewalks following the snowstorms of the last two winters.  I didn't see any of them filling and piling sandbags along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.  This concept of "disaster relief" seems to be a bit one sided.

It's one of the most disgusting aspects of Bush's term as president and Americans (and the world) will never forget how he let people starve and drown by keeping relief out, while forcing people to stay in the disaster zone.  That's false imprisonment and a crime--something that no American should ever tolerate is a supposedly free country!  It was clear that Bush & Co. wanted to get rid of many people as possible because they want that land!

John Gault's answer is disgusting and if he bothered to read the news, he would know the flooding caused by the levees suddenly breaching was what caused all those deaths, not the hurricaine!  It was clear that the city was under water because of the water from the levees, not the water from the hurricaine!
