I really like the Jeep Wrangler Sport 1997. Is there a website that can tell me more about it? Such as mileage and how long it lasts? Here's a picture:

both links and advice if you own one are appreciated!

  1. I have owned both a TJ and YJ... I currently have the TJ and love it...

As far as picking a particular generation:

the TJ perform much better off-road compared to the YJ... not to           mention the on road ride... the TJ drives much better then the YJ!

As far as being able to tell if this is a good wrangler I would need some specific information.

i.e. mileage, how many owners, upgrades, etc...

Check out www.jeepforum.com for a ton of good information!

  2. I have owned 2 wranglers. in my opinion the good ones ended in 95. The newer ones are a tighter fit and bodies aren't as strong. Mechanically they seem to have more transmission and front end problems (i used to work at an auto repair store). The power of the new sport models are nice, but i currently have a 94 wrangler with a 2.5L 4 cyl in it and it is very powerful. I am able to push or pull most vehicles around during heavy snow, and never get stuck myself. Ive had it for ten years and it runs beautifully. I recommend this model jeep over any. I also recommend staying away from soft tops, easy to break in, and do not insulate very well during the winter.

  3. This is what is called a "TJ" as opposed to its 1st older brother the "YJ" and before it the "CJ-7 and CJ-5.  The TJ is a tremendous upgrade from it's older family members, all coil suspension that rides smooth and a heater that WORKS !  If your going for mileage get the 4 cyl. and if you want more power {pulling a trailer etc.} get the 6 cyl., The automatic transmission is stout but lacks overdrive so if you can shift a manual then go that way. BTW the axles used in it are upgraded copies from the YJ so they are actually stronger then it's predecessors. Expect about 200,000 miles with the 4 cyl. and 3-350,000 with the 6 cyl..  There is an insane amount of aftermarket accy,s available for the TJ and if you like the ride and how it handles then get it.
