According to Gallup’s Daily Tracking Poll, the Democratic presidential nominee now maintains an 8-point lead over Republican John McCain, 50 percent to 42 percent.

  1. This suggests either the choice was a flop or that Obama's numbers might be even higher than that had the announcement been delayed.

  2. To see what kind of bump Palin will truly give the ticket until after she speaks tonight. With the weekend coverage of the Hurricane and the first day of the GOP Convention being cut severely at McCain's request, we need to wait until we see another independent poll to see where the voters are moving.

P.S. Maintaining means a sustained advantage ... not one poll, sorry

  3. Sarah Palin is a very attractive young lady.  Former Miss Alaska runner up I believe.  She looks really good on TV and she's done a few nice things in terms of reforms.

It seemed like a good idea when she was selected, although the lack of experience angle of attack was too easy.

I'd prefer her over d**k Cheney as a VP choice, but then, I'd probably take Kenneth Lay over d**k Cheney.  Wait, what am I saying, they're practically the same person.

I think Palin was a homerun swing type of a pick.  Either a homerun with the pro-life conservatives and the "reformer" angle.  Or crash and burn as she's inexperienced and looks like there are a bunch of stupid little scandals (husband's political party, DUI, 17 year old unwed daughter's pregnancy), S**t that NO ONE should care about but unfortunately, people do.  Like how John Kerry really wasn't shot THAT many times in Vietnam, or he only patrolled "safe" parts of the enemy territories while Bush was safe in Texas.  But guess what, people are f'ing stupid and it matters to the average dumb-ss.

    So the Repubs are f'-cked.

  4. This is why Palin is hurting McCain.....

  5. Remember Obama's huge bump when he picked Biden

If you said yes then you are a liar, VP's rarely give bumps in the polls, the rule of thumb is if there is no change in the polls then it is a good pick. The reason Obama is up is because of that little Democratic Convention. Conventions always give big bumps, some even say Obama's bump isn't a real big one considering the others over the past.

Just watch, after the Republican nomination, McCain will be much closer, tied, or even winning depending on how good it is.

  6. DOn't forget the Bradley factor, and also take into account the sampling....

U96, you do realize that McCain can't use that cash after sept 1, right? he took public money for the campaighn this year... he can't spend anymore than 87 million in contributions, now he has to make due with 87 million of taxpayers money

  7. Thanks Sarah!

  8. Polls are very misleading.

  9. Polls don't mean anything as of yet, you need to study history, particularly about Harry S. Truman...

  10. The "Poll Bump" was over 10 million dollars dumped into McCain's campaign fund over the past 5 days, most likely from the Evangelists.

McCain sold the VP slot for instant cash.

  11. I will wait and see what the polls taken after Sarah's speech tomorrow night say..

  12. the poll is good for up to and including sunday. but the poll your referring to isn't good for any thing much and hasn't been for about 12 years.

So it really does not mean very much; good or bad, for either one of them.
