  1. Don't be fooled by names like canon or nikon. If you haven't heard of Pentax or have heard it mentioned, it's something to look into. The k10d is the best dslr for under $800. It's weather tight (water resistant, dust resistant) has a shake reduction system and is able to mount some of the sharpest, water tight glass on the planet. Do some research and see what you find, it's won so many awards and was hailed as one of the best in its class at PHOTOKINA.

  3. The best DSLR for your price range is the one that you are going to use and not leave behind.

    my advice is to go to your local camera store and pick them all up in turn and buy the one which feels right in your hands
