The conflict started with Esau sold his birthright for a plate of lintels. Ever since, the Arabs have been trying to get it back. They think that killing all the Jews will accomplish this.

The reason Esau didn't want to go home was he didn't want daddy to find out he had been out chasing loose women, when he was supposed to be hunting. This is still reflected in their Quran, which promises them 72 virgins and 28 young boys to deflower, when they die- IOW, their interest is sodomy.
