Is it "Take your shoes off." or "Take off your shoes."? I've always wondered what is the correct way to say it because either way sounds good but what's the correct way?

  1. "Take your shoes off" implies that there is more to the sentence that doesn't really need saying because it's understood:  "Take your shoes off your feet."  The other sentence, "Take off your shoes" is equally correct.  You might avoid your own dilemma by saying "Please remove your shoes."

  2. both of the questions are correct.

  3. add NOW!!! and you are good to go

  4. "take your shoes off"

  5. Well, to be super correct, you shouldn't end sentences with prepositions. So..."Take off your shoes," is proper. However, English language has gotten lax on that rule, so the other sentence is considered acceptable now, too.

  6. it doesnt make a difference

  7. well if you are using a command it would be Take off your shoes, but if you are trying to say it nicely then you would say take your shoes off with a please at the end

  8. Both are correct.

  9. take off your shoes

  10. You should always say please.

  11. Grammatically speaking, either choice is acceptable. In this case, the "off" is functioning as an adverb, and adverbs can effectively end sentences without a problem.

However, make sure to refrain from ending sentences with a preposition, such as: at, to, from, etc.

Don't say, "Where are you at?"

    Instead, say, "Where are you?"

Or, for a more complex example; it's not grammatically correct to ask someone, "When you graduate, what community college are you going to?"

You would need to rephrase the statement in such a way that it no longer requires a preposition for the last word. You could ask, "When you graduate, what college do want to attend?"

  12. Both are correct.

May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

  13. Same meaning, different wording. Both are correct

  14. Got to have this in it "Take off those frig-gin dirty smelly shoes" Or get the h**l out of My house.
