  1. Yeah, that's a pretty subjective term, I don't think it's ever used.  Most often I hear something like "Standard American Accent" when speaking about American English speakers.


  2. heard it before, ref here 2005 bot it would go back much further, term is used in psychology

  3. My first wife who had her Masters in Communications, used to talk about "Neutral Accent." It is what many broadcasters use and is, as far as I can tell, a type of diction that removes all the regional inflections. To me it always sounded a tad Canadian.
