Is this the longest presidential campaign cycle in US history.?

Should we go to a 6 month campaign process.

Only because Hillary and Obama were in the news for ten solid months , I think allot of people never realized there was anyone else running they ran John Edwards right off the stage in a debate.All about the spot light with no forwarding plans on what they are going to do. Now that the other party is in, the Republican party it has been a rude awakening . Maybe the media thought if they only covered two democrats they could get away with a total democrat campaign.

This is the longest cycle ever. Ugh. We've got to shorten it to something like a year.

No caucuses or primaries before March. Have the nomination system go March to June. Conventions in July/August, election in November.

When does the cycle actually stop?  You know the moment the next POTUS swears in the next campaign is under way.  Your suggestion makes sense, but then we're not in DC where they'd toss in the can.

No not really it's just the little boy Obama makes it seem that way with all his racist comments and attitude.
