I'm 26, and I've never smoked or drunk. Back in highschool, I was never considered one of the "cool" kids because I never wanted to go out just to get drunk, and to smoke. I was never one of the "loser" kids either because I was on the swim team and hockey team.
A few weeks ago, I ran into someone from highschool. I couldn't recognize him. He looked so OLD. He told me he still hung out with the old "gang" from highschool (the guys I never hung out with.) He inivited to get to get together with them. So I went, and said hello to everyone. EVERYONE looked so OLD! So they bought over 300 dollars worth of liquor to binge drink that one night. I'm tempted to leave at that moment because I still don't drink. But I started realizing why do they all look so old (both guys and girls), getting drunk every weekend for over 10 years must really have an effect on people.
So I go with them, and I'm the only guy who's not drinking. But what really suprised me was that it seems they think they were still in highschool. All of them seemed to think everyone wanted to be like them, hang out with them, and that they were so much better than the rest. They were letting me know that is not often they let someone hang out with them.
It's like they were still stuck in that period of their lives. They couldn't alk about anything other than stuff that happened in highschool, and people from highschool.
I left really early, and called some other friends to go out dancing.
IT'S SAD! How can a group of people still hang on to stuff that happened over 10 years ago.
Isn't it sad?
