Stole this link off another guy posting a question. Its interesting to think that maybe we are entering a new evolutionary stage where mixed race children are the fastest rising population by 11%(UK 2006). So is this just that we have become more racially tolerant and grown up, or is it evolution showing us the way forward. I'm no scientist and am probably wrong, but wouldn't it be cool if it were true and we were merging into one global society where there would be no boundaries and borders, where resourses would be shared equally because we would all be the same!!! I know that I'm probably wriong and there are a million scientific facts that would shatter my theory, but either way it would be something else if we all became equal in physical appearance as well as economic and spritual being. And it would be great to stick one up the far right exremists and the KKK and the BNP.

  1. A genetic analysis of human evolution has shown that rather than slowing to a standstill it has speed-ed up, with different pressures on different populations pushing racial groups further apart.

“Genes are evolving fast in Europe, Asia and Africa, but almost all of these are unique to their continent of origin. We are getting less alike, not merging into a single, mixed humanity.

In the modern era, greater movement and gene flow between the races has probably slowed or even reversed patterns of increasing genetic difference in some places were the focus is on a mixed population but not over continents.

Over the past 5,000 years, new genetic variants have been emerging at a rate 100 times faster than in any other period of human evolution.

If this rate were to have remained the same since humans and chimpanzees diverged around six million years ago, the genetic difference between the two species would be 160 times greater than it is.

  2. I would argue no, I think you are confusing sociology with biological evolution.  Perhaps I can help clear up this confusion.  Evolution, perhaps due to the fact that it often appears to contradict widely taught religious beliefs, is a rather lightly understood process.  People get the general jest of what the theory is trying to say but then confuse the details.  The term is perhaps also too broadly used across a range of contemporary discussion.

I don't think you're entirely wrong in describing this process, where traditional majority groups eventually become the minority due to interracial breeding, as evolutionary but you have to accept that you are using the term in a very colloquial sense and perhaps be a bit more specific in branding it such.

In colloquial contexts, evolution can refer to any sort of progressive development, and often bears a connotation of gradual improvement: here evolution is understood as a process that results in greater quality or complexity. This common definition, when misapplied to biological evolution, leads to frequent misunderstandings. For example, the idea of devolution ("backwards" evolution) is a result of erroneously assuming that evolution is directional or has a specific goal in mind (cf. orthogenesis). In reality, the evolution of an organism has no "objective" other than increasing the organism's ability to survive and reproduce in its environment; and its suitability is only defined in relation to this environment. Biologists do not consider any one species, such as humans, to be more "highly evolved" or "advanced" than another. Humans are led to believe otherwise by our tendency to evaluate nonhuman organisms according to our own, anthropocentric standards.

When you talk about an 'evolutionary stage' I guess the process that you are describing could affect the biological evolution of man and other species around the planet in a number of ways.

    - The interbreeding results in an increased prevalence of beneficial traits that assists mankind in avoiding extinction through an event such as climate change, pandemic or other global catastrophe.

    - The fact that the global population is no longer prevented from interbreeding could in effect dilute the prevalence of a trait that enables the human species to survive a global catastrophe and our species becomes extinct.

    - Mankind's further expansion around the globe will most probably affect what is known as The Holocene extinction event, an ongoing mass extinction across the globe over the past few thousand years. Present-day extinction rates are 100-1000 times greater than the background rate, and up to 30 percent of species may be extinct by the mid 21st century.  Human activities are now the primary cause of the ongoing extinction event; global warming may further accelerate it in the future.

One other thing to think about.  You mention racial tolerance in your question but then go on to state that with inter-racial breeding everything would be great becuase we 'would all be the same'.  Doesn't this rather contradict your own views which seem to imply racial tolerance as good and thus people should be free to breed with who they want and that interracial breeding is in fact no different to any other sort.  Besides which, a greater prevalence of mixed race children would surely mean more diversity.  Rather than being 'all the same' it would create a situation where there were so many different combinations it would almost be impossible to group people by ethnic origin.  Although I can appreciate how this would perhaps aid in breaking down racial prejudice.

In addition, tolerance and understanding are based on far more than just looks.  Perhaps your theory needs more investigation as more of a philosophical topic rather than a scientific discussion.

From personal experience I welcome it.  I find interracial women can be extremely attractive and refreshing in their looks.  They are also invariably complete animals in the sack!

  3. My family gatherings bring so many races together it looks like a United Nations convention LOL

The mixed race people will one day gain ascendancy. There is no other possible outcome. And it's only through the gentle destruction of the old races that we can ever work toward any kind of lasting racial peace.

If we all become racially unidentifiable, the hate would have no home.

And you're right about the idiot KKK and BNP - They are perfect examples of evolutionary throwbacks.

  4. when Homo sapians started out, we were all exactly the same ,As we have spread out all over the world climates and different conditions of survival are what have made us so different in looks and size and attitudes . as the world shrinks because of the ease we move from one Continent to another  it is a natural occurrence for us to return to our natural shapes and colours , but it will take many generations for that to happen

  5. It is natural that all races will eventually become one therefore they will become undiscernable. There is very little difference between races today. The concept of race is evolving and one day it will cease to exist as we know it. This is not precisely evolution because it is not positive in the sense that it is progression but it is a nice thought. The blending of the races... 11%? There are many bi-racial and multi-racial people who list themselves as other races. I think that the number is closer to 20%. I doubt that the world will be free of hatred because there will always be evil but we can obliviate different sorts of hatred and where they stem from. As we as a society progress past ideas of racial hatred will slowly fade.  I don't know about the UK but worldwide the number is much much higher. Good! Racial mixing occurs as predujices dissapear. It shouldn't ever be discouraged.

  6. Evolution always has, and always will, thrive on differences between individuals.

That is what natural selection is all about.

The emergence of one global society will take many hundreds of years, culturally speaking.
