Is this the right battery for the phone?

Hi,

I bought a used cordless phone (Casio PhoneMate) but it did not work. I thought it needs a new battery. I looked for a replacement one. The original battery is a GP Ni-Cd Battery, P/N GP60A AS3BMJ, 3.6 600 mAh. I read somewhere that it could be replaced by AAx3 CPH-482D 3.6v but the one I bought is 1500mAh. Would this not work? I am noticing that the phone is not that great and want to make sure that this is the reason before returning it or replacing it again.

Thanks

  1. It should work but I don't know if the charger for it can handle the increased current requirements to charge the thing. The number 1500mAh means it can run for 1500 hours if it uses one milliampere of power. The bigger the mAh rateing the longer the battery lasts. But when in doubt don't do it. Just but a new one I got a vtech cordless phone for like $20 at the CVS/Walgreen's/Right Aid/Brooks

  2. there must be hundreds of places out there that sell batteries for cordless phones, including Radio Shack.  You might also try the manufacturer of the phone
