Question:

Is this the right career for me?

I've been going to school for about a year to be a medical assistant. I have about another year left to go. I'm scared this isn't the right career for me. I feel like I have already forgotten everything I'm supposed to know. I don't know if the information will catch on soon or if I'm trying not to learn because this isn't what I really want to do.

Has this happened to you, any advice?

  1. your probaly forgetting things because your nervous about the career, i would see how this year goes an if you feel its not you then its not the end of the world.

but think back to why you wanted this course an this career, and it might just give u another push in what you want

  2. I knew a girl who went to school as a medical assistant an she didnt like it. she left that career school and signed up for classes at her community college and learned a lot more because of course it was at a slower pace. she eventually graduated and became a registered nurse

  3. About half of the people I went to school with dropped out of their studies because they didn't want to do what they chose anymore; and they all did it for the better.

If you don't want to do it, then don't waste your time. You could be doing something you actually want to be doing and enjoying it?

  4. Unless you already know what else you want to do you should finish up your degree. Even if it isn't the right career for you, having a degree in the medical field will always give you something to fall back on! I wouldn't worry to much about forgetting what you learned, it is like anything else, if you are not using it you will lose it. Once you start doing the job it will most likely all fall into place. School is as much about proving you can jump through hoops and take orders as it is about actually learning. I have met many complete idiots with their masters.

On the other hand if you have a passion in life, then follow it. Cause this is the only f$#cking life you've got!

  5. You are scared.  when you are scared, you cannot think straight.  i remember when i finished college, i was not sure at all whether this was the right career for me either.  it is all about your attitude.  think about it as an adventure.  maybe you will be pleasantly surprised.  try to think straight now.  maybe there is something else on your mind that is casting this dark shadow about the future? don'tt let your mind clutter issues for you.

my advice to you is to make a decision to free yourself from over-thinking for a while.  you have to make a decision.  if you are sure this is not the career for you then go study something else.  since according to what you said you are not sure, youmightt want to decide to continue regardless of the uncertainty and continue your studies (one more year) and look into the subject again in a year time.  this will allow you to focus on studying.

in general the second part of study is usually the more concentrated in any field and the more fun, since it gets you more into practical stuff related to what you will do in the field.

    best of luck
