  1. I have some fish medicine that I bought from soaking my nets.  It is called Quick cure.  It says on the label that it cures ick in two days.  I have not used it for that, but I would if I needed to.  On the back it says add one drop per gallon daily until cured on all fish except those of the tetra group.  I do not know what type of fish you have.  You can ask about this product at your LFS.  I hope this helps.

  2. other alternative rocksalt, methylene blue, malachete green

    kOi keeper & goldfish keeper

  3. Ick Guard is fine, but I too would have opted for Quick Cure or Rid Ich. While the ingredients are very effective, some do lose their potency over time in the dried form. Also, be sure to keep the tank dark and remove any activated carbon from the filter during treatment, as the victoria green b (AKA malachite green) will degrade with exposure to light, and the whole mixture will be removed by the carbon.

What fish died? Scaleless and sensitive fish like Tetras, Catfish, Loaches, Puffers, Knives, and most small-scaled Cyprinids should receive a HALF dose, as they absorb the medication more rapidly than larger scaled fish.

EDIT: NOTHING cures Ich in 2 days.  It is a parasite with a life cycle taking almost a week to complete, and is entirely invulnerable to medications for 2 of the 3 stages.

  4. Soop has your answer - you get Soop or Copperhead to answer your question, and you can take it to the bank.

I used rid-ich at half doses for twice as long as suggested for baby fish and it worked out fine. Messy though. Ask a pharmacist for a baby medicine syringe that will measure milliliters and your job will be much easier. The stuffs toxic, you dont want to be using kitchen measuring spoons for it.

    Good Luck
